The Curling Culture

COMMUINITY: It is commonplace for opponents to sit together after the game and, if appropriate, the winning team offers to buy the first round of drinks for their opponents (this is called "broomstacking".
SPORTSMANSHIP: Each game begins and ends with a handshake and wishing each opposing team member "Good Curling".
MUTUAL RESPECT: Celebrating good shots by the opponent is encouraged and taunting when they miss is considered very poor form. If the score gets lopsided, teams may opt to not post the score or to conclude the game early.
TEAMWORK: All members of the team are actively involved in each and every play.
INTEGRITY: Most levels of play do not have officiants; it is up to each player to self-report if he/she accidentally commits an infraction.

Curling has been played for centuries and has many traditions and curling etiquette that are a vital part of the experience. It is very social sport that fosters social connections and community building.
